Dr. Anarcho’s Rx For Old Stuff That Don’t Suck- The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (2CD) [Enhanced]

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their careers, few groups experienced such radical stylistic and personnel changes as Fleetwood Mac and survived, indeed thrived because of it.

Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, Fleetwood Mac rocked and hard. Facts are, the early works, including Oh Well one of the most covered songs ever, but no cover quite has the sting of the original.

Dr. Anarcho’s Rx For Old Stuff That Don’t Suck: Wet Willie – Miles of Smiles

Of course it’s another live album because if you can’t do it live I’ll stick with Memorex. If you even know what that means you just dated yourself, a thing which the NeoCons will soon declare the point of conception.

Or as many kids and all grands would ask today, “What’s a CD? What’s a cassette? What’s an 8 track? What’s vinyl? What’s a gramophone? Back in the days when chipmunks ran on treadmills to power record players there was a band called “Wet Willie.” I have long wondered if they named themselves that over an inordinate fondness for slobbering on their index fingers and sticking them in the ears of the unsuspecting.

Dr. Anarcho’s Old Stuff That Don’t Suck: Fanatic by Heart.

The Seattle sisters still have all the Heart it takes to make great rock music. Decades after the platinum success of Dreamboat Annie they continue to churn out unbelievably good stuff. Always Led Zeppelin Fans they unabashedly admit Zep was a major influence on their music and it shows. Mayhaps you saw them perform Stairway to Heaven on The Kennedy Center Honors; if you did, you saw that honorees Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones had tears of pride and joy in their eyes when Heart played what is perhaps the best cover ever of Zeps best known song. They could have played The Battle of Evermore and gotten the same reaction. Heart’s version of TBOE is arguably as good as or better than Zeppelin’s.

Dr. Anarcho’s Rx For Old Stuff That Don’t Suck: The Dave Matthews Band – Various Covers.

Okay, up front, you are going to need a good, cheap source to download MP3s. This album isn’t really an album. It’s a compilation of the best of The DMB’s best “live” cover versions of some of rock’s greatest songs.

The Dave Matthews Band is arguably the best band playing rock today. There isn’t a member in the entire band that isn’t world class at what they play. No sampling (read “stealing”) going on with this bunch; they play and they play perfectly every time with some of the most intricate chops and rhythms that are far above the average listener’s head. These are musicians’ musicians.

As great as they are at composing their own material it should not be a surprise at
